Name Change FAQs

Why did CCCS change its name to Clarifi?

As financial complexity has grown with the times, the depth and breadth of the expertise provided by Consumer Credit Counseling Services has expanded to keep our organization highly competitive. Today we provide so much more than basic “credit counseling,” and have done so for some time. So to reflect our achievements and higher aspirations, we’re changing our name to Clarifi and planting a new flag in the financial landscape.

How did you come up with Clarifi?

We help people ask themselves tough questions to identify what’s really important in their lives. About which kind of home they can afford. Should a mortgage take priority over tuition? Even microscopic questions like, “take-out or leftovers?” Our new name is a mandate to clarify all the issues so our clients can see a clear financial future. It’s a verb, which reminds us to take action and have a sense of urgency.

Is your organization still a non-profit?

Absolutely. We remain a non-profit service organization with a mission to help people throughout the Greater Philadelphia region, with no profit incentive. We think that keeps us focused on the greater personal goals of our clients.

How does this change impact me?

If you’re a client, our name change won’t affect you at all. We’re still rooted in our commitment to help people overcome their financial struggles. And now, perhaps, you’ll understand our ability to help clarify your economic circumstances even when there’s no immediate crisis.

If you’re a partner with us, you’ll enjoy knowing that we’ve set our sights on the every opportunity to expand our services. Using our mission as a guideline, we want to help people reach lifelong financial literacy. If this makes you think we can work together in wonderful new ways, we think that’s great.

Has anything changed with your services?

We’re still here in offices throughout the region. Our services remain confidential and non-judgmental. If anything, our Clarifi Counselors are getting smarter about new financial topics that can help people achieve lifelong financial literacy.

Is there anything different I should know about?

We urge all our clients to explore every opportunity to learn more about how to find a path to a clear financial future. From setting up a household budget to balancing a checking account, from pre-qualifying a mortgage to understanding the cost of higher education, and from planning a wedding to planning for retirement, Clarifi offers a wide variety of financial learning programs for every stage of life.

When did you make the official switch to Clarifi?

CCCS started doing business as Clarifi effective on Monday, January 16 with outreach communications to clients, partners, corporate contacts, funders, community partners and the media.

Is Clarifi the official company name?

For now, our corporate name remains Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Delaware Valley (CCCS). All of which means we will use the CCCS name on legal and corporate documents.  But to you, we will be Clarifi.  We will answer the phones as Clarifi, our website will be Clarifi.org, you will begin to see the Clarifi name on our materials, letters and e-mails, and more.

We can’t pull the switch on every single thing overnight. And we’ve been doing business (quite effectively) as CCCS over the course of five decades. So we realize not everyone will know us at Clarifi right away.  For the next year or so, we will have a statement like this on our communication pieces:

Powered by Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Delaware Valley

I have a Debt Management Plan with the CCCS name on it.  Is that still valid?

Of course it is. We’ll make the transition to Clarifi over the course of time, but remember, it's not the name that’s important; it’s about getting your good credit in order. So let’s concentrate on that.

For my DMP, I typically send in a cashier’s check made out to CCCS.  Can I still do this?

Yes, we will still be able to accept all payments made out to CCCS. We can also accept your payment if you make it out to Clarifi. Again, it’s more important to make the payment and get your good credit in order.

Will there be a change to FinanciallyHers?

Our commitment to our FinanciallyHers learning program remains strong. The program itself will not have a new name; Clarifi will present it. We believe it’s a great opportunity for women of all ages to discover lifelong financial literacy within a supportive community of peers.

Were you bought out by someone else?

No. We have not been bought out by anyone. We have the same integrity (if not more) our organization had before; we just have a new and a stronger sense of purpose.

Is there anything else I need to know about Clarifi?

We believe in helping people achieve lifelong financial literacy. So while you may have reached out for help in solving an immediate problem, we hope you’ll explore all the other smart economic services Clarifi offers. Together, we can be proactive in setting you on a path to a clear financial future.
