Dixon House

DCS's settlement house or community center provides comprehensive housing counseling, emergency energy and housing aid, employment supports as well as parenting classes and case management to promote family stability. Dixon House is also the city’s first-ever curfew center, an effective tool in reducing youth-related violence.

Dixon Learning Academy/Western Learning Center

These centers are dedicated to preparing children to enter school ready and able to learn. Both centers are nationally accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The centers are also approved as PreK Counts sites. They serve children from 3 months to 12 years of age.

Vare Beacon

This center promotes the healthy development of children and families. Based at the Vare Middle School, the Beacon engages over 1,000 children and families a year in activities such as academic enrichment, arts and culture, dance, athletics, special interest clubs and field trips. The Beacon also provides a special truancy prevention service to motivate children to attend school.
