Philadelphia Legal Assistance provides free civil legal services to Philadelphia's low-income community.

Specialists are available to give advice or to provide representation in the following areas of law:

  • Domestic Violence
  • Medical Assistance
  • Unemployment Compensation
  • Farmworkers
  • Referrals
  • Community Education

PLA serves people who reside within Philadelphia and meet the eligibility guidelines. PLA can only provide services for people who are at 187.5% of the poverty level or less. If you live outside of Philadelphia and have a court case in Philadelphia, the legal services office in your county must refer your case to PLA.

PLA accepts new clients on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 AM to 11:30 AM (walk-in), and on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 AM to 12 PM (call-in).
